Gloriana is a Melbourne-based chamber choir founded in 1994 by its director Andrew Raiskums. Gloriana’s programs traverse a wide range of genres and styles but focus on the acappella performance of Renaissance and contemporary choral music. The warmth and excellence of the choir’s performances have been regularly praised by audiences and critics alike. With its stone and timber interior and heritage-listed Harrison organ, St Mark’s Anglican Church Fitzroy is an ideal venue for Gloriana’s 2013 concert series.

Our Next Concert: Spem in alium: Tallis’ Spem in alium is one of the most extraordinary choral works ever composed. Written in 40 individual parts, the piece is a sonic spectacular, and is one of the greatest achievements of the Renaissance. This concert features no less than three works for 40-part choir, with Gabriel Jackson’s Sanctum est verum lumen calling for the same distribution of voices as Spem in alium. Alongside the Tallis and the Jackson we will be performing great polychoral works by Bach, Victoria, Tavener, Penderecki and others. In the superb acoustics of Sacred Heart Carlton, this concert will be a truly unforgettable experience. Don't miss out.
